  • 7 Coloured Wooden Tangram with Downloadable Tangram E-book: Cat and Bird.

This Wooden Tangram Puzzle is patterned. Kids as young as 1 would love to have a go with this puzzle. Tangram Puzzles help with logic and thinking skills, dexterity and they are just plain puzzling fun! The goal of playing Tangram puzzle is to place all the 7 polygons in the right position to form a given design.

Right Brain Education Tools compiled Downloadable E-books for children aged 1-6:

    - 15 Cat Tangram Figures
    - 15 Bird Tangram Figures

These e-books are designed to be used along the “7 Coloured Wooden Tangram”. The size of the puzzle pieces in this e-book matches the wooden puzzle pieces in “7 Coloured Wooden Tangram”.

    How to play:
The objective of the game is to form each cat figure using the 7 wooden tangram pieces. Of these seven pieces, the parallelogram is unique in that it has no reflection symmetry but only rotational symmetry, and so its mirror image can be obtained only by flipping it over. Thus, it is the only piece that may need to be flipped when forming certain shapes.

    Benefits of playing Tangrams:
Researchers have argued that tangrams benefit kids in several ways (Bohning and Althouse 1997; Krieger 1991; National Council of Teacher’s Mathematics 2003). • develop positive feelings about geometry
    • classify shapes
    • develop an intuitive feeling for shapes and geometric relationships
    • develop visual spatial skills • develop precise vocabulary for manipulating shapes (e.g., “flip,” “rotate”)
    • very good right and left (whole) brain stimulation.
